No Holds Barred: Charles Farrell of The Boxing Standard

On this edition of No Holds Barred, host Eddie Goldman speaks with our colleague, correspondent, and award-winning boxing writer, Charles Farrell. Charles is also co-editor of The Boxing Standard.

"Boxing as part of our culture as an ongoing event or series of events doesn't exist anymore," said Charles Farrell in this phone interview, which was recorded Wednesday. "I think the whole notion of professional behavior has moved outside of our culture."

Among the topics we discussed in light of this were the Nonito Donaire-Jeffrey Mathebula, Wladimir Klitschko-Tony Thompson, and Kell Brook-Carson Jones fights of July 7; the Amir Khan-Danny Garcia and David Haye-Dereck Chisora fights scheduled for July 14; the Saul "Canelo" Alvarez-Josesito Lopez fight on September 15; how fans are not trained in, and are even discouraged from critically assessing what they see on television; a little bit about MMA and boxing; and much more.
