On this edition of No Holds Barred, host Eddie Goldman discusses the fights this past Saturday, July 18, involving Julio César Chávez Jr., Carl Frampton, and Scott Quigg.

In El Paso, Texas, Chávez Jr. (49-2-1, 32 KOs), the son of the Mexican boxing legend Julio César Chávez, won a lackluster decision over the smaller Marcos Reyes (33-3, 24 KOs). Earlier that day also in El Paso, the unbeaten Frampton (21-0, 14 KOs), the IBF 122-pound champion, survived two first-round knockdowns to win a unanimous decision over challenger Alejandro Gonzalez Jr. (25-2-2, 15 KOs). The Chavez Jr.-Reyes fight headlined a Showtime telecast in the U.S., while Frampton-Gonzalez headlined a Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) telecast on CBS in the U.S., and was also shown on ITV in the U.K. and UTV in Ireland.

At the same time as the Frampton-Gonzalez card took place, a major card in Manchester, England, and on Sky Sports in the U.K., featured a fight between the unbeaten WBA 122-pound champion Scott Quigg (31-0-2, 23 KOs) and challenger Kiko Martinez (32-6, 24 KOs). After Martinez seemed to pressure Quigg and win the first round, Quigg came back in the second to drop Martinez twice, resulting in the referee stopping the fight and a TKO win for Quigg.

With talk turning to a Frampton-Quigg super fight or for each fighter to face other opponents, we discuss both the victories and the vulnerabilities of both fighters, as well as those of Chávez Jr.. We also discuss how people in boxing react to vulnerabilities, which obviously everyone has, as well as the vulnerabilities of the sport itself, and much more.
